It's Me!

I'm a 25 year old artist in Texas. Almost all of my free time is spent either drawing or writing. I'm what you would call "multi-passionate" but I don't like that term very much. In my mind, the concept of "niching down" is just another way art has been capitalized. Every artist is "multi-passionate", it comes with being human.

IRL, I'm in graduate school for an MLS and do imaging for an online portal. Information and learning is really cool.

I have a goal of making comics. I just gotta do it. I will host them on here when I do it. I don't know when that'll happen. It's a confidence issue.

I have rheumatoid arthritis with a million secondary co-morbidities, and take many expensive medications to not have my joints and organs implode. I'm happy to talk with people who have similar issues or are on their own diagnostic journey. Community is a necessity with chronic illness. It takes an average of 5 years to get diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, it took me about 7-8 and only happened because an online mutual suggested I get an autoimmune panel.

    Do you take commissions/requests/trades?

    I'd be surprised if you got this far in my site without seeing the commission page, but yes, I do! They are always open.

    I don't take requests anymore, or more specifically, I don't let myself take requests. I used to for color palette challenges, but I've stopped.

    I will only do art trades if I open them first. I plan to keep doing Art Fight so if we don't know each other well then I'd rather you wait until July!

    What art program/brushes/tablet do you use?

    I learned digital art on Clip Studio Paint (back when it was still Manga Studio 5), but I've been relying on Procreate since 2017. I use a 13.5 inch iPad Pro that I got for a discount from my coworker.

    My favorite brush is the everything brush. It's worth the dollar. I use it for both sketching and line art. My second favorite brush is the default syrup brush in procreate. I use syrup for shading. My standard is to use a desaturated medium-dark blue with linear burn for shadows, and a light desaturated yellow on add for lighting. After that it depends on the piece. I like to experiment.

    How long have you been drawing?

    Almost 11 years as a serious thing, but I've doodled since I got access to finger paint as a baby. My passion for it has waxed and waned over time. I only recently (past year or so) buckled down to really work on mastering fundamentals. I probably could have done that earlier but who cares. It's a hobby, I've taken art classes but I hated them and I don't attribute anything I do to that.

    Who is the pink catgirl?

    That's my character Lola from an abandoned project. She's not a persona or meant to represent me, just an OC I really love.
